Volunteer Opportunities

Join the volunteer community at Medici Museum and help our visitors appreciate art. We welcome enthusiastic and engaging volunteers. The benefits of volunteering at Medici Museum of Art include learning about art and special exhibitions from experienced curators and educators, making friends who share a passion for art and education, and the rewarding experience of helping others connect with art that inspires them. There are various types of volunteer opportunities at Medici.

Museum Visitor Services

Volunteers must be able to assist and greet visitors at the gallery information desk and assist with Museum events and programs. We are looking for volunteers to help set up and tear down for special events.

Guided Tour Volunteers

Museum guides introduce school students (grades K–12) or adult visitors to Medici’s exhibitions, making works of art meaningful, accessible, and often inspiring. Guides select and research artworks from the extensive collection and engage visitors in one-hour conversations that offer context and enhance understanding.

We are currently accepting applications for new volunteers who we train to lead tours for school or adult groups at Medici. Candidates of all backgrounds and abilities are welcome. No prior training in art history is required. Training is conducted by the Museum's educators, curators, and associate director, who present the latest scholarship, as well as the accumulated knowledge of the artist on display. Training sessions include lectures by curators, discussions, workshops, written assignments, and oral presentations. Training for new guides joining in 2021–22 may include both virtual and in-person sessions.

Museum Gift Shop Sales Clerk

Outgoing individuals are needed in Medici Gifts. A customer service or retail background is desirable. Volunteers are asked to assist weekly.
